That party was pretty crowded.

[Like usual, Reiko is outside--the basic surroundings looks like some kind of meadow. She's looking somewhat thoughtful. The fact that there's cut on her cheek that looks like it just stopped bleeding doesn't seem to bother her at all.]

That's not what I wanted to talk about today, though. Just half an hour ago I met this strange old woman. Her eyesight was pretty bad--she must have tripped because I heard her yelling that she couldn't find her walking stick. Of course I gave it back to her.

The weirdest part was after I helped her up...she wanted my cosmetic mirror! She said it was important that she needed a mirror. Didn't say why only that it was very important. Even after I told her that there was a shop just down the road that sold mirrors.

[She pauses for a moment before shrugging.]

Obaa-san got her mirror in the end. I didn't need it anymore.

[Reiko briefly touches her injured cheek.] She really was such a strange old woman...

What kind of place do you live? The town, I mean.

Oh, uh, I live in Inaba. You've... probably never heard of it, right? It's... really small. Like, tinier than a postage stamp small. There's an okay hill, though, I guess, and our steak's pretty famous, so that counts for something, right?

[friendcontracts]

You're right, I haven't heard of it but I can't say that the town I live in is any bigger. The forests around it are really nice; I've been to most of the surrounding area. Nothing else to do but kill time.

They got any bikes there?

[friendcontracts]

They do! Can't say I own one. That's more money than I can afford--I don't really want to trouble the people I'm living with for one, either.

[kitchenknives]

Yeah, they can get pretty pricey. I'm dying to upgrade to a motorbike, but I'm not gonna be able to afford one until martians invade, the way it's looking.

[friendcontracts]

Don't worry. I'll keep an eye out for the UFOs.

[Pause.]

But I hope you get one. Motorbikes are really expensive but they're worth the price.

[kitchenknives]

Wait, don't tell me you've been on one?

[friendcontracts]

I wish. They just seem fun.

...You wanna go for a ride? I mean, if I ever get one, or anything.
